Presentation of Credentials by Ambassador Biraja Prasad (10 December, 2015)

 Ambassador Biraja Prasad presented the letter of credence appointing him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Tajikistan to H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan on December 10, 2015. He was accompanied by his spouse Smt. Pooja Mishra.

Addressing the newly appointed Ambassadors after the presentation of credentials, President Rahmon said that Tajikistan was interested in the development of close relations with India. He added that during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tajikistan in July 2015, the two countries have identified several action points, which need to be implemented for expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries. President Rahmon expressed full support to all the Indian initiatives in Tajikistan and wished Ambassador a successful tenure in Tajikistan.

After the presentation of credentials, Ambassador made a brief press statement where he said that the relations between India and Tajikistan are wide-ranging and encompass cooperation in a wide-spectrum of areas, including political, economic, education, health, human resource development, defence, counter-terrorism, science and technology, culture and tourism. He said that India and Tajikistan share identical views on important regional and international issues. He added that Tajikistan was India’s one of the largest ITEC partners. He said that the cultural relations between the two countries were vibrant and informed that India shall be celebrating Days of Indian Culture in Tajikistan.  In conclusion, Ambassador expressed the hope that during his tenure the two countries will further strengthen the bilateral relations and enrich the strategic partnership between the two countries.
