Visit of an Indian business delegation to Tajikistan (28-29 March, 2016) for B2B meetings

         An Indian business delegation from Confederation of Indian Industry visited Tajikistan on 28-29 March for holding B2B meetings with Tajik counterparts.  The event was attended by more than 80 businessmen from the two countries. The entire programme was organized by the Embassy in close partnership with Tajik Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

          The programme began with an opening ceremony on 28 March, which was attended by H.E. Mr. Nazrizoda Saidrahmon, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of |Tajikistan and Mr. Sharif Said, Chairman, Tajik Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They addressed the gathering and gave a detailed overview of business climate and available opportunities for expanding India-Tajikistan trade and investment relations.  From the Indian side, Shri Midhun T.R.,  Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. and Shri Kiran Vasant Kalbag, head of the Indian business delegation made brief remarks on the occasion. This was followed by presentations by the members of the Indian business delegation and a presentation by Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan on business opportunities in Free Economic Zones of Tajikistan.

          After presentations, individual B2B meetings were organized covering a wide range of sectors including textiles, pharmaceuticals, IT, hydropower, agriculture etc. On 29 March, the delegation met relevant officials in various agencies /Ministries to understand the policy framework of Tajikistan. Overall, the visit of the delegation provided the required platform for business interaction and is expected to result in expanding of trade and investment ties between the two countries.
