Celebration of Days of Indian Culture in Tajikistan, “Namaste Tajikistan”, April 19-26, 2016

             An ICCR sponsored 13-member Indian Cultural troupe visited Tajikistan from 19-26 April, 2016 for celebration of Days of Indian Culture in Tajikistan, “Namaste Tajikistan”.  The troupe included two groups of artists led by Sitar Maestro Pandit Subrata De and Senusepara Supki, an exponent of Rajasthani folk dance “Kalbelia”.

The celebration was inaugurated by Charge d’ Affaires Mr. Midhun T.R. and His Excellency Mr. Orumbekzoda Shamsiddin Sodibek, Minister of Culture of Republic of Tajikistan on April 20,2016 at the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet in Dushanbe. The week-long celebrations were organized at several venues in the capital city of Dushanbe with scintillating performances by the visiting troupe.  The troupe also performed in other cities of Tajikistan and presented performances at the Cultural Centre of the historic city of Gissor and Cultural Centre of Nurek City. In Dushanbe, the troupe performed at Tajik National Conservatorium and Irom Garden. The closing ceremony of the celebration was held at State Academic Theatre Opera and Ballet, Dushanbe.

The troupe enthralled the audiences at all the venues and attracted huge enthusiastic crowds. The halls at all the venues were packed to their full capacity.
